Perhaps most positive in terms of Monero was Andrey discussing his admiration of the Monero researchers and the size of the monero community. Despite his mixed feelings about how he was treated by the Monero devs in the early days, he now has respect for the progress the project has made.

While we can’t verify the veracity of everything Andrey said, it all seemed very genuine and we have been told by some monero OGs that cryptozoidberg was involved in the earliest days of cryptonote. We hope to continue conversation with him and who knows...maybe he will work on Monero one day too.

Peter opens with declaring his admiration for Monero despite being a Bitcoiner first and foremost. The conversation becomes a bit contentious as expected, with Doug pushing Peter on what he sees as bitcoin’s flaws. Peter was reluctant to argue the technical features of bitcoin v monero but he was a great sport and we hope to have him
back on soon with technical experts to get deeper into the weeds of these digital cash protocols.

Perhaps the most revealing moment was Peter admitting that Bitcoin may have a fungibility problem after doing some googling during the show. The takeaway being, If you are new to this space don’t only listen to talking heads in cryptoland, like Doug or Peter, in trying to figure out what crypto’s have real value. Rather, Do your own research to understand what technical features are vital to a cryptocurrency, understand what risks exist for each, and invest accordingly.
